GuardianLight - Brooks' Safety Dimmer Switch
The switch is a small electronic unit which connects to the patrol car headlights. The officer attaches the remote switch to their belt. When they press the button on the switch the headlights go off for 5 seconds giving the officer time to walk back to the patrol car. After 5 seconds the headlights come back on automatically. (PAT. Routine traffic stops are not always routine.
Headlights are helpful in lighting up the area.
But, when the officer turns to walk back to the patrol car not only do they have their back to the occupants of the car but the officer is silhouetted in the patrol car headlights.
